The Barbados dollar

The Barbados dollar, symbol "$" or "Bds $", is the national currency of Barbados. Your ISO 4217 code is "BBD". One dollar is divided into 100 cents (¢).

The Barbados dollar was created after the establishment of the Central Bank of Barbados (CBB), founded by Order of the Barbados Parliament in May 1972.

Prior to this, Barbados and other islands in the eastern Caribbean were under the authority of the East Caribbean Currency Authority (ECCA), whose currency was the Eastern Caribbean dollar.
